My personal experience with real (natural) food began in the early Spring. Prior to then, I paid very little attention to the ingredients in what I eat. Nine months later, ingredients mean everything to me.
How did I get here? Mostly through firsthand exploration and reading. I started with Michael Pollan and Barbara Kingsolver, attended local farmers markets, and discovered food cooperatives.
I learned to love cooking, though I don’t do it as often as I should (my staples are pancakes, omelets, and quesadillas).
Most importantly, my effort was validated by simply feeling good. From an emotional and physical standpoint, I have never felt better in my life. It’s easy to keep something up if you can reap a tangible reward.
Nine months ago, I did not care what went into my stomach. Today, I proudly display a food philosophy that has been carefully cultivated.
This blog was launched in the Summer with the intention of sharing my personal journey with the world. I have not had a very large reader base, though some articles have generated a substantial spike in traffic.
I try to write interesting content about food and the meals I prepare. Though some of my articles may be entertaining, I do not want to be an entertainer like most other food blogs (and blogs in general).
My goal in 2010 is to get serious about the message.
And I will need help. If you are a blogger sharing a similar food philosophy, get in touch with me. If you’re just interested in real food and want to contribute, get in touch with me. You can reach me by e-mailing dave@eatingrealfood.com.
